Inaugurated Today, the Jakarta-Cikampek II (Elevated) Toll Road Will Immediately Operate Without Tariff Until The End of Christmas and New Year's Holiday

Cikarang (12/12) - On Thursday (12/12), at KM 38, Indonesian President Joko Widodo inaugurated the Jakarta-Cikampek II (Elevated) Toll Road. This longest overpass in Indonesia will immediately operate without tariffs until the end of Christmas and New Year holiday in order to regulate the traffic flow during the holiday break.

The inauguration was attended by Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Wishnutama, West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil, Head of the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) Danang Parikesit, Director General of Land Transportation Budi Setiyadi, President Director of PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk. Desi Arryani, and President Director of PT Jasamarga Jalanlayang Cikampek (JJC) Djoko Dwijono.

In his welcome speech, President Joko Widodo hoped that Jakarta-Cikampek II (Elevated) Toll Road will solve the current heavy traffic density issue on the existing Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road.

"My full appreciation for the completion of this toll road project. I understand that the project had been very difficult to accomplish as the work had to be carried out amidst the heavy traffic issues," said Joko Widodo.

He added that there were also other work projects, such as the construction of LRT and Jakarta-Bandung Fast Train. Jakarta-Cikampek II (Elevated) Toll Road will hopefully reduce the existing Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road's heavy traffic density by 30% as the average daily traffic (LHR) had already reached 200 thousand vehicles per day. Hopefully, this regulated traffic flow will save fuel consumption.

The Head of BPJT Danang Parikesit said Jakarta-Cikampek II (Elevated) Toll Road will be accessible through two entrances and exits, namely Susun (SS) Cikunir and West Karawang Interchange.

"There are safety features on this toll road such as the eight emergency U-Turn points and 113 CCTV units," he continued.

Moreover, he added, for road safety and convenience, Jakarta-Cikampek II (Elevated) Toll Road will also be equipped with these vehicle fleets: tow trucks, highway patrols, toll road service patrols, rescue and ambulance.

The 38-km Japek (Elevated) Toll Road is partly located within the existing Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road, from Cikunir to West Karawang segments (Sta 9 + 500 to Sta 47 + 500). Jakarta-Cikampek II (Elevated) Toll Road is currently operated by PT JJC Toll Road Business Entity (BUJT), Jasa Marga's subsidiary, and only applicable for long-distance class I non-bus and non-truck vehicles.

Although it has already been inaugurated, Jakarta-Cikampek II (Elevated) Toll Road is still closed to the public as there are still minor works to complete, but the Jakarta-Cikampek II (Elevated) Toll Road will be in non-tariffed operation soon.

"Once operated without tariffs during the Christmas and New Year holiday, Jakarta-Cikampek II (Elevated) Toll Road will be an alternative route for travelers heading Cikampek or Bandung and will reduce the heavy traffic density that often occurs on the existing Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road," said Jasa Marga President Director Desi Arryani at the Opening Ceremony of the Jakarta-Cikampek II (Elevated) Toll Road.

Jasa Marga will urge travelers on Jakarta-Cikampek II (Elevated) to keep their vehicle speed within the 60-80 km/hour range, ensure their vehicle primary condition and to maintain their stamina, as well as to make sure that their electronic money balance and fuel is enough for the trip. Facilitated Rest Areas on the existing Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road are also available, such as Rest Area km 51, 57, and 62 which all lead to Cikampek. In the reverse direction, Jakarta, Rest Area km 6 is available.
